Classification of Goods and Services applied for the Registration of Trademarks

A Revised classification of goods and services for the purpose of registration of trademarks under Section 8 of Trade Marks Act, 1999, and Rule 22 of the Trade Marks Rules 2002 is published by The Registrar of Trade Marks on 29/11/2013 under official notification no. CG/PublicNotice/TMR/2013/44.

This classification consists of Introduction, Class Headings, List of Classes with Explanatory Notes, Alphabetical List of Goods and Alphabetical list of Services. The introduction provides general guidelines for classification of goods and services.

In view of the proviso to Rule 25 (15) of the Trade Marks Rules 2002, the trademark agents/attorneys and the applicants are advised by the Trademark Registry to adopt the names of goods and services (for the purpose of registration of trademarks) corresponding to those given in the classification being published under following weblink  http://www.ipindia.nic.in/tmr_new/tmr_notice/classification_GoodsServices_29November2013.pdf.
